D. Suresh Kumar, is currently involved in research, teaching and policy interfacing with Government departments, national and international agencies. He has completed 38 research projects with national and international level organizations viz., IWMI, ICRISAT, GDN, SANDEE, IFS, IDE, SANEI, Government of India, NABARD, State Development Policy Council, and TAWDEVA etc. He has published 5 books, 20 technical bulletins, 27 book chapters and 64 research papers. He has received several international and national awards like ICAR Best Teacher Award (1999), D.K. Desai Prize Award (2004), Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (2005), Best Researcher Award (2006), Endeavour Executive Award (2009). As a researcher, he has visited several countries including Deakin University, Australia and Monash University, Malaysia.
