Dr. Mrs. Alaka Pande is a mycologist having a brilliant academic career and an experience of 30 years in the field of Ascomycetes and “Fungi Imperfect” Group. She rendered services for identification of fungi for many years in the Agharkar Research Institute, where she was serving and retired as the Head of The Mycology & Plant Pathology Group from the same Institute. Later was a scientist Emeritus (DST, New Delhi) at the same Institute for 3 years, during which period this compilation was completed. Her special interests are Families Phyllachoraceae, Xylariaceae, and endophytic fungi. She has one monograph on Indian Phyllachoraceae, and two compilations in book form viz. Fungi of Maharashtra and Compendium of Fungi on Legumes from India apart from over 100 research publications to her credit.
