Dr. A. R. Naqshi is Well-known plant taxonomist, former faculty at the Department of Botany, University of Kashmir. Dr. Naqshi famously known as 'plant man' of Kashmir has immensely contributed in the scientific documentation of floral wealth of J&K state. During his active service, spanning more than three decades, Dr. Naqshi had undertaken botanical exploration across the entire state including far-flung areas of Gurez, Nubra, Zanskar and other such areas. Dr. Naqshi has been the pioneer in the establishment of internationally recognized KASH herbarium-a rich repository representing floral heritage of the state.
