G. Singh, Born on 15th December 1961 at village Chainpur, Dist. Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, India, the author has completed his ‘Master of Science’ and Doctor of Philosophy’ from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, UP, India in 1984 and 1989, respectively. While working in the areas of sandy terrain management and sand drift control; water relation of tree plantations; wastewater utilization and mineral nutrition for dry land productivity; tree-vegetation interaction and tree integration in agricultural land; resource conservation and restoration of degraded land/ hills; and carbon budgeting of forests and soils at Arid Forest Research Institute (AFRI), Jodhpur, India since last 23 years, the author has completed 19 projects of varying sizes, published more than 180 papers in journal of national/international repute and book chapters. More than 20 reports have been prepared by authors based on research projects, evaluation and field assessments. In addition two project documents have also been prepared for field implementation for different agencies including Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Jaipur.  Some of the fellowship/awards to the author’s credit are Junior Research Fellowship of CSIR, New Delhi (1984), Graduate Aptitude Test in engineering (GATE), 1985; S.K. Seth Prize for the year 2002 and 2012 for the best research paper in the field of ‘Environmental and Ecology’ published in ‘Indian Forester’ and ICFRE Award for Excellence in Forestry Research in the year 2003-04. Five students have successfully completed their Ph.D. programmes and five are working under the supervision of the author. By holding positions of scientist C to Scientist G since November 1992 to till date, Former Head, Division of Forest Ecology, AFRI and international experiences of FRI, Ltd, Rotorua, New Zealand, Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), Indonesia, author has involved in extending knowledge through workshops, brainstorming sessions and trainings to village farmers to officers of Indian Forest Services.
