J.V. Amin

Prof. J.V. Amin, obtained is Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Chemistry from the University of Bombay. He went to USA in 1950 for his Masters in soils from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Plant physiology from Texas A and M where he continued as a faculty members for ten years. In 1968, he returned to India and was a Hon. Professor at the M.S. University of Baroda for a short period. Thereafter he became technical consultant to various chemical industries of the area and also associated with environmental projects at the M.S. University of Baroda as a senior consultant to a large, multi disciplinary team. He also edited two excellent reports dealing with environmental and ecological studies in the vicinity of Navagam dam on River Narmada in the western Indian state of Gujarat. These reports helped to silence the bitterest critic of the dam at the national and international levels. Prof. Amin's academic interests include plant nutrients, cold weather tolerance of crops, use of saline waters for plant growth in deserts, aerial seeding of grasslands and  public participation in wild life sanctuary management. Presently, Prof. Amin is retired and lives with his wife in Arizona.
