Prof. K. Kathiresan, Dean & Director in the Faculty of Marine Sciences of Annamalai University in India has spent practically most of his research and teaching career on marine ecology. He has made significant contribution to mangrove ecology in the last three decades. He has about 400 research publications, seven books and has conducted many international and national programmes related to marine ecology. He is the recipient of several national and international awards and distinctions.
