Dr. M.S. Mondal obtained his M.Sc. in Botany from the University of Kalyani, West Bengal securing first class second position with specialization in Paleobotany & Palynology and awarded Ph.D. from the University of Calcutta in Palynotaxonomy. Dr. Mondal is currently serving in the Botanical Survey of India as Joint Director (Hqrs.). He has contributed about 80 research publications in Indian & Foreign journals and chapters in Books. Dr. Mondal has guided six Ph.D. students and authored two books - ``Pollen morphology & systematic relationship of the families Sabiaceae & Connaraceae'' and ``Pollen morphology & systematic relationship of the family Polygonaceae''. He is now actively engaged in the Palynotaxonomic research on plant families with reference to phylogeny.
