M.S. Venkatesh

Venkatesh Madasur Subbabhat, is currently working at the Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, as Principal Scientist (Soil Science). He is involved in various research activities like long-term effect of pulse based cropping systems on soil health and crop productivity, carbon sequestration potential in pulse based cropping systems, phosphorus and sulphur management in Corn-Chickpea system etc. He started his carrier in 1997 as Scientist (Soil Science) at the ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hills Region, Umiam, Meghalaya where he worked for eight years mainly on nutrient management in acid soils under hill ecosystem, and suggested alternate land use systems for shifting cultivation in terms of soil health and crop productivity. Dr. Venkatesh has completed in post-graduation from University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad and was the recipient of University Gold Medal for securing 1st position. He was the recipient of Junior Research fellowship of ICAR during M.Sc (Agri) and Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR) during his Ph.D. programme. He also received FAI-IMPHOS team award in 2011 for his work on "Role of phosphorus on yield and quality of crops". He has published more than 50 research papers in reputed national and international journals.
