Dr. S. Balakrishnan, professor in the Dept. of Plant Pathology of the college of Agriculture, Vellayani. He took his M.Sc. (Ag.) in Plant Pathology from the Kerala University in 1967. Later, he worked under the guidance of Dr. Y.L. Nene, for his Ph.D. and he took his doctorate in 1974 from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and technology, Pantanagar. He has been working as a Faculty member of the Kerala Agricultural University from 1972 onwards. He has published about forty research papers and a number of popular articles on various aspects of Plant diseases control.
