S.K. Shah, retd. Senior professor, has done his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Jammu and Kashmir, and post-doctoral studies from UK and France. He headed the Department of Geology (University of Jammu and Kashmir, and University of Jammu). He also had a brief stint as Senior Scientific Officer at Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology. Prof. Shah has published 66 papers with a couple of books, including a text book on palaeontology. He has supervised 13 Ph.D. and over 25 M.Phil. scholers in the field of palaeontology and Stratigraphy. He was also a visiting professor at Oregon University (USA).
