Dr. UTPAL GIRI, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in Agronomy, department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Tripura, Lembucherra, West Tripura. Dr. U. Giri obtained his Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) degree and Master’s of Science (Agronomy) from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal, India. He received his Ph.D. (Agronomy) from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, Nadia, West Bengal, India. He was awarded the INSPIRE Fellowship Award from the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, India to carry out the Ph.D. Research Work. He has received University Merit Scholarship in B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. M. Sc. (Ag.) and also in Ph.D. He also received Gold Medal Award from University and Smt. Kiranmayee Devi Memorial Gold Medal Award for securing the highest Overall Grade Point Average in M.Sc (Ag.) in Agronomy in 2008. He is a recipient of CWSS Young Scientist Award in 2018 from the Crop and Weed Science Society. He acquired several fellowship grants from various funding agencies to carry out his research works during his academic career. He is also former Development Officer in Tea Board, India. He has coordinated, associated and involved with under-graduate teaching programme at the college and has significant research experiences in field of ITK, cluster Demonstration, and in academia and well as having considerable administrative experiences in different capacity at various time frame. He has delivered number of invited plenary lectures and key-note addresses and acting as Examiner and question setter in various agricultural universities in India. Dr. Giri is author and coauthor of 18 research papers, 5 book chapters and 1 book in his credit.
