Dr. (Mrs.) Vidya Thakur, is a Retd. Prof., Environmental Science, Dept. Environmental Science, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan, H.P., India. She has 30 years of teaching and research experience. She specializes in the area of Ecology and Environmental Biology, Plant Ecology, Fire Ecology, Biodiversity, Natural Resources Management, Ethnobotany and Traditional Indigenous Knowledge System. She has 110 Research papers in National and International Journals, 40 popular articles and 15 chapters in different books to her credit. She has been the member of research team of Gender Orientation Programme in ICIMOD, Kathmandu, Nepal, during 1995-97 and member Board of Studies, College of Forestry UHF, Nauni, Solan, during 1994-96 and 2004-06. Presently, she is the member of Board of studies, botany section of under graduate programme, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and is engaged in research works, consultancy in some projects and social works in the rural areas of Himachal Pradesh and writing scientific articles and books.
