Dr. Vijay Prakash has worked as Zonal Director Research and Dean at College of Agriculture, Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Dr. Vijay Prakash is well known as Champion Breeder of chickpea in India. He had completed his graduation from GVPG College, Sangaria and post graduation from SKNAU-Jobner and done his doctorate from SKNAU- Jobner. He had also written more than 10 booklets and contributed more than 40 research papers and 50 popular articles on different aspects. He was awarded 'Choudhary Devilal Best AICRP Award-2016'. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in the area of genetics, plant breeding and plant biotechnology. He has worked in AICRP on Maize, Wheat and Barley, Chickpea, Groundnut, Cotton, Mustard and MULLARP. He has released 12 varieties in chickpea, 3 in cotton, 2 in mungbean and one in groundnut. GNG-1581, GNG-1958, GNG- 2144 and GNG-2171 are most famous varieties of chickpea.
