V.K. Sehgal

The author graduated with B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Hons.) in Zoology - Entomology from Panjab University, India in 1960 and 1961 respectively. After brief work at the Indian Lac Research Institute, Ranchi, he joined the University of Alberta (UA), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in Sept. 1965 and obtained Ph.D. degree in Entomology during Spring 1970. After brief working at UA, he joined the Department of Entomology, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology in 1972 for Teaching, Research and Extension; guided about 15 M.Sc. and 8 Ph.D. student theses. He worked his way from Assistant to Associate Professor and then to Professor; Professor and Head, before retirement in 2002. During this period, he also worked as Senior Scientist (Visiting), Legume Entomology at ICRISAT (International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics) at Patancheru, A.P., India (1988-89); and then as Head, Division of Entomology at IARI (Indian Agricultural Research Institute) New Delhi, India (2000-2001). During post-retirement, he worked as an Advisor, Pesticide Industry, 2002-04, and then as Project Director, ATMA (Agriculture Technology Management Agency) in District Champawat in mid hills, Kumaon Himalayas. Currently, he is an Independent Expert in the area of Biodiversity, Climate, Ecology and Agriculture
