The paper puts on record the traditional treatment of the toothache and other related problem by the Gujjar and Bakerwal, Tribes of Kashmir, India. The Gujjar and Bakerwals are nomadic shepherds inhabiting the high altitude meadows of the Jammu and Kashmir state. They live in complete harmony with nature and their daily needs are met by the natural surroundings. In the absence of modern medical facilities these people usually depend upon herbs and other materials for treatment of disease and ailments. The art of healing is learned over years of practice of error and trial with different herbs growing in their surroundings. The treatment sometimes seems crude but is always claimed to be effective.
