A. K. Yousuf Haroon

Dr A.K. Yousuf Haroon is now a freelancing Consultant (Fisheries), often working with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN, Bangladesh. His feld of interests are marine and inland fsheries, wetlands, climate change implications and adaptation management. Dr. Yousuf served the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Bangladesh as a Scientifc Offcer; Department of Biology, University of Basrah, Iraq as a Technical Teacher; National Water Plan Project of the Bangladesh Water Development  Board (BWDB) as a Fisheries Consultant; Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) as SeniorPrincipal and Chief Scientifc Offcer; as National Technical Advisor, DANIDA-funded Strengthening Institutional Capacity of DoF (SICD) Project, ASPS II; as National Advisor, GEF-funded Support to the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) Project of BFRI; as Fisheries/ Aquaculture and Climate Change Specialist in FAO, Bangladesh; and as Environmental Specialist in the WB Group-funded Sustainable Coastal and Marine Fisheries of Bangladesh (SCMFPB) project, the preparatory phase of the DoF, Bangladesh. Apart from his Doctor of Science (Dr. Sci.) degree, he got higher educational training from the Centre for Environment and Estuarine Studies (CEES), Solomons, University of
Maryland, Maryland, USA; Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand and Tietgen Business College, Odens, Denmark. He is a member of the Network of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries Professionals (NTAF), Penang, Malaysia; Asian Fisheries Society and WorldFish (defunct ICLARM), Malaysia. Dr. Yousuf co-authored 
six books and four book chapters on fsheries, wetlands, pollution, and climate change implications. Besides, he has to his credit more than 55 peer-reviewed research papers published in international and national journals, 40 peer-reviewed technical reports and proceedings, 13 training modules/ manuals, 10 popular scientifc articles, 22 outreach extension materials and one video clip on river shad (Tenualosa ilisha) fsheries management.
