Chintala Sudhakar Reddy has obtained M.Sc. in Botany from Osmania University and Ph.D. in
Botany from Kakatiya University. His earlier associations are with Andhra
Pradesh State Forest Department and EPTRI, Hyderabad. He is working as
Scientist-SG and Head of Forest Biodiversity & Ecology Division in National
Remote Sensing Centre, Indian Space Research Organisation, Hyderabad. Dr. Reddy
has been featured thrice in the list of top 2% scientists in the world in the
fields of biology and geomatics engineering by Stanford University, U.S.A and
Elsevier. He has published 296 research papers. As Project Director, he is
leading DBT- DOS project on biodiversity characterisation at community level
using Earth Observation data. Dr. Reddy is conferred with awards such as, Prof.
Y.S. Murty Memorial Gold Medal Award-2022 from Indian Botanical Society, Hari
Om Ashram Prerit Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Research Award - 2017 from Physical
Research Laboratory, Government of India, Prof. M.B. Raizada Medal Award - 2016
and Dr. S.K. Jain Medal Award - 2010 from Association for Plant Taxonomy, Prof.
P.R. Pisharoty Memorial Award - 2014 from Indian Society of Remote Sensing and
Young Scientist Merit Award - 2008 from I.S.R.O. He is Fellow of Telangana
Academy of Sciences, Indian Botanical Society, Indian Association for
Angiosperm Taxonomy and Association for Plant Taxonomy. He has guided 9 Ph.D.s
and 44 post graduate students.
