G.S.L.H.V Prasada Rao is born in December 1954. B.Sc (Physics), M.Sc (Meteorology) with Agricultural Meteorology as specialization and Ph.D. in Agro-climatology from the Andhra University, Waltair in 1980. Commenced career as Junior Hydro-meteorologist in the Ground Water Department, Govt. of Rajasthan & later joined as Asst. Prof. in the Dept. of Agricultural Meteor-ology, College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara in 1980. He became Professor in 1989. Dr. Rao is at present heading the Department of Agricultural Meteorology and holding the position of Associate Director of Research (Disaster Management). Formerly, he was Associate Dean, College of Horticulture and Director (Acad &PG Studies), Kerala Agricultural University. Established the Centre for Climate Change Research in Kerala Agricultural University and it is likely to be an independent institute to excel in climate change education and research in the humid tropics. Dr. Rao is instrumental in launching a five- year M.Sc. Degree Programme (Integrated) in Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture and allied sectors in collaboration with the University of Western Australia and alike   Institutes from abroad. He has more than 150 research publications including popular articles and many books to his credit in the filed of climate science and Agricultural Meteorology. The reference books “Climate Change and Agriculture over India” and “Agricultural Meteorology” are his latest publications.  He was a member in Board of Studies, Atmospheric Sciences, CUSAT and TNAU.  He is a Member in several Scientific Panels and Selection Boards He possesses “Life Membership” in several scientific societies viz. Indian Meteorological Society, Association of Agro-meteorologists, Association of Hydrologists of India and Indian Society for Plantation Crops. He is a member of Editorial Board of Journal of Agro-meteorology. He is actively involved in teaching, research and extension in the field of climate studies and Agricultural Meteorology since last three decades.  Dr.Rao is a consultant in the field of climate science and agro-meteorology of tree and plantation crops and weather based agro-advisory services.
