Dr. K.V. Krishnamurthy FNASc, FLS (London), FIAT, currently adjunct professor, Institute of Trans-Disciplinary Health Science and Technology, Bangalore, obtained his M.Sc. in Botany (University First rank) in 1966 and PhD in 1973 from Madras University. After a brief stint in Government colleges in Tamil Nadu, he joined Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli in 1977 where he served until retirement in 2006. He has teaching and research experience of 48 years and has guided 32 PhD scholars, published 180 research papers and 25 Books including Methods in Plant Histochemistry, Methods in cell wall histochemistry (CRC Press, USA), Text book of Biodiversity (Science Publishers, USA) and Bioresources of Eastern Ghats-Conservation and Management. He has operated 15 major research projects. He has been a Fulbright visiting professor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1993 and has visited and gave lectures in various universities in UK in 1989. His outstanding Awards and Recognitions include. Prof. V. Puri Award (Indian Botanical Society), Tamil Nadu State Scientist Award, Dr. V.V. Sivarajan Gold Medal Award (Indian Association on Angiosperm Taxonomy), and Prof. Hiralal Chakravorty Award (Indian Science Congress). He has been the editor and editorial member of many journals in and outside India.
