The study of ethnobotany has now attracted worldwide attention. This book, first published in 1981, under the title Glimpses of India Ethnobotany, was among the first few books on the subject in India and prompted many young researchers into this subject. The second and revised edition was brought out in 1991; it contained some additional chapters. The book became out of the market in just three years. Considering the widening interest in the subject, and persisting, rather increasing, demand of the book, this third edition is being brought out. This volume has 32 chapters by 34 scientists, and includes several new chapters; the editor is thankful to the authors. The general arrangement of chapters is the same, i.e. by theme and regional coverage. Also, the sequence of data under various species in the enumerations is by and large the same as in earlier editions. Several printing errors that has crept in the earlier editions have been corrected, and the nomenclature of many plants updated.
