Barhat Krishna Singh Ka Jeevan-Charitra Aur Rajputana ka Apoorva Itihas’ is a missing-link in the contemporary History of Rajputana.’

— Rajkumar Man Singh Banera, Bar-at-Law.

The quality and authenticity of the work is also enhanced when one realizes that this was the age of strict censorship imposed by the British on Publications. He took up life of letters and emerged as a historian in his own right. His grasp of languages and analytical bent of mind prepared him adequately for a literary career.

— Professor T.K. Mathur, Head, Dept. of History, M.D.S. University, Ajmer

In his introduction to the Book Shri Krishna Singh Barhat says there are many books in which there are praises for the routine administration work of the Rulers, why should, I, therefore, waste my time labouring to repeat them. I shall, therefore, only write the fruitful account of the Rajas and Maharajas whom I have seen or heard. It is argued that many others also write of what they have seen or heard. I should like to assert that I would write only what I have heard or seen myself so that people have no doubt about the veracity of the account.

However, I would like to say that memoirs of this type are rare in our country and the effort of Shri Fateh Singh Manav to bring together the Manuscript, which has remained in neglect for such a long time, is highly commendable. I congratulate him for this effort and look forward to the early publication of the work which, I am sure, would be welcome to the Historians and would throw fresh light on social, political and economic conditions in Rajasthan during the second half of the nineteenth century a period of stagnation and flux.
