Conservation is the management of natural resources including flora and inorganic/organic materials. It also implies on medicinal, aromatic and economic plants of Great Indian Thar desert. At present, these are at the verge of extinction due to ecological imbalances and biotic climax.Although Cymbopogon sps. of Indian Thar desert are an integral part of desert ecosystem but it was not properly utilized in terms of its value added products.The neglected Cymbopogon sps. are basically traced in various localities to signify its practical use in perfumery and pharmaceutical industries. An apreciable quantity of essential oil also exhibited thermo-stability against hot and arid climate. Keeping in view of above facts, it becomes necessary to cultivate the desired landraces of Cymbopogon for their value added products and also to conserve them through cultivation practices which will help to enhance the economy of local peoples.
