Mikania cordata (Burm.f.) Robins., (Asteraceae) occurring hitherto in Kerala state in Southern India has been collected from Coimbatore District of Tamilnadu, thereby extending its distribution as well as forming a new record for the state.

Parthenium hysteroph'orus L. an obnoxious, pan-tropical weed known to cause severe allergy and skin disorders amongst cattle  and human is also known to possess medicinal properties. The present paper describes some such medicinal uses of this plant especially for curing diabetes, which is hitherto unknown

Conservation is the management of natural resources including flora and inorganic/organic materials. It also implies on medicinal, aromatic and economic plants of Great Indian Thar desert. At present, these are at the verge of extinction due to ecological imbalances and biotic climax.Although Cymbopogon sps. of Indian Thar desert are an integral part of desert ecosystem but it was not properly utilized in terms of its value added products.The neglected Cymbopogon sps. are basically traced in various localities to signify its practical use in perfumery and pharmaceutical industries. An apreciable quantity of essential oil also exhibited thermo-stability against hot and arid climate. Keeping in view of above facts, it becomes necessary to cultivate the desired landraces of Cymbopogon for their value added products and also to conserve them through cultivation practices which will help to enhance the economy of local peoples.

Aeschynanthus micrantha C.B. Clarke has been reported as a new record for flora of West Bengal from Gorumara National Park of Jalpaiguri district.

Taeniophyllum alwisii Lindl., a tiny, leafless, rare and little known epiphytic orchid so far known only from Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu is recorded from the Idukki district of Kerala State.

This paper records fifty nine species belonging to forty two genera of family Asteraceae, collected from Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary. A comparison with an earlier published works revealed that twenty one species were not recorded previously from the study area and seven species recorded earlier could not be collected during present study. Among the species recorded, Eupatorium adenophorum and Parthenium hysterophorus are known invasives, while further studies are needed to determine the invasive potential of Enydra fluctuans and Soliva anthemifolia.

This paper deals with angiospermic taxa of Bijnor belonging to the family Asteraceae. A total of 59 species belonging to 45 genera are reported.

The present paper deals with an additional distributional record of Chenopodium schraderianum Roem. & Schult. from India, as well as a new record for Flora of India. A detailed  description, ecology, phenology (only flowering and fruiting time), taxonomy and phytogeography have been provided along with illustrations.

Ipomoea staphylina Roem.& Schult. (Convolvulaceae) is reported as an addition to the flora of Marathwada region of Maharashtra State, India.

Cyrtococcum deccanense Bor (Poaceae) collected from Chintapalli of Vishakapatnam district is a new distributional record for the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Six species of angiosperms, viz. Citrullus colocynthis (L.) Schrad. ex Eckl. & Zeyh., Curcuma caesia Roxb., Pedalium murex L., Rauvolfia tetraphylla L., Solanum myriacanthum Dunal and Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Sm., have been reported as new records for Central India.

The genus Caldesia Parl. is represented by thre species in India - C. grandis Samuel., C.oligococca (F.v. Muell) Buch. and C. parnassi folia (Bassi ex L.) Parl. The specimen from Lower Bengal is  quite distinct from the above mentioned species, though  allied to C. grandis  Samuel. and C. parnassi folia  (Bassi ex L.) Parl.,and deserves a distinct specific recognition. A palynotaxonomical account is presented in the text.

A rare fern ally, Selaginella dixitii Madhusoodanan and Nampy, is reported for the first time from Tamil Nadu state.

The new species Globba rahmanii Yusuf (Zingiberaceae) sp. nov. from Bangladesh is described and illustrated. The species grows in shady moist hill slopes at high altitude, 1200 m, in Chittagong and Hill Tracts districts of Bangladesh. Diagnostic morphological characters from closely related taxa are discussed.

Detailed external and internal features of cypselas of three species (Centaurea spinosa L., Cirsium spinosissimum (L.) Scop and Serratula tinctoria L.) of the tribe-Cardueae have been studied. Special attention has been given on the shape of cypselas, pappus structure, stylopodium, stylopodial structure, mesocarpic region of pericarp, testa, endosperm layer etc. The external and internal features of cypselas are very helpful for their characterization in fruiting stage.

Melinis minutiflora P. Beauv., a tropical African grass of many uses, is reported for the first time from Peninsular India. The detailed description with illustration and necessary notes is provided here.

Syzygium alternifolium (Wight) Walp. is recorded for the first time in Southern Eastern Ghats of Tamil Nadu. Detailed description and illustrations are provided.

A brief study on the occurrence of certain Asteraceous plants, utilised in different aspects by the inhabitants both tribals and non-tribals of Assam and its neighbouring areas has been made. 43 species included in 40 genera belong to the family Asteraceae have been recorded in the present work. Most of the plants enumerated here are medicinally useful besides the food, fodder, insecticidal,ornamental and other purposes.

Blumea lanceolaria (Roxb.) Druce var. spectabilis (DC.) Randeria of family Asteraceae is reported as a new record from Darjeeling district of West Bengal.
