A taxonomic survey of the Pteridophytes was made in the Mahabaleshwar & Panchgani, areas of Maharashtra, during 2010 to till date. Total 43 species under 23 genera are reported in this communication. Annotated catalogue of the Pteridophytes of Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani of Maharashtra State is given for the first time on the basis of extensive collection done recently. The species no. within genus reported from the area include Selaginella (3 spp.), Adiantum (3 spp.), Asplenium (2 spp.), Athyrium (4 spp.), Blechnum (1 sp.), Dryopteris (3 spp.), Hypodematium (1 sp.), Dicranopteris (1 sp.), Ptyrogramma (1 sp.), Tectaria (2 spp.), Lygodium (1 sp.), Nephrolepis (2 spp.), Isoetes (1 sp.), Ophiglossum (1 sp.), Bolbitis (1 sp.), Angiopteris (1 sp.), Cheilentus (3 spp.), Pteris (4 spp.), Pteridium (1 sp.), Lepisorus (1 sp.), Microsorium (3 spp.), Christella (2 spp.), Trigonospora (1 sp.). The state of Maharashtra in Western Ghats possesses one of the richest Pteridophytic floras of the country as far as the species diversity is concerned. Brief description, distribution and ecological notes on species are presented in this paper.Well represented genera in these areas include Tecteria, Adiantum, Pteris and Selaginella.
