Rampa agency constitutes hilly northern part of East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh State, India. The major tribes of the study area includes, Kondareddis,Valmiki’s Konda kapus, Koyas, and Konda kammars. The present paper reports 62 ethnomedicinal plants, along with the plants that are of use for fiber, timber value, house construction, house hold purposes, etc.

A taxonomic survey of the Pteridophytes was made in the Mahabaleshwar & Panchgani, areas of Maharashtra, during 2010 to till date. Total 43 species under 23 genera are reported in this communication. Annotated catalogue of the Pteridophytes of Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani of Maharashtra State is given for the first time on the basis of extensive collection done recently. The species no. within genus reported from the area include Selaginella (3 spp.), Adiantum (3 spp.), Asplenium (2 spp.), Athyrium (4 spp.), Blechnum (1 sp.), Dryopteris (3 spp.), Hypodematium (1 sp.), Dicranopteris (1 sp.), Ptyrogramma (1 sp.), Tectaria (2 spp.), Lygodium (1 sp.), Nephrolepis (2 spp.), Isoetes (1 sp.), Ophiglossum (1 sp.), Bolbitis (1 sp.), Angiopteris (1 sp.), Cheilentus (3 spp.), Pteris (4 spp.), Pteridium (1 sp.), Lepisorus (1 sp.), Microsorium (3 spp.), Christella (2 spp.), Trigonospora (1 sp.). The state of Maharashtra in Western Ghats possesses one of the richest Pteridophytic floras of the country as far as the species diversity is concerned. Brief description, distribution and ecological notes on species are presented in this paper.Well represented genera in these areas include Tecteria, Adiantum, Pteris and Selaginella.

As part of the study on the propagation profiles and restoration of high economically important plants, five high medicinally important species viz. Tylophora indica (Burm.f) Merr; Ruta graveolensis Linn., Adenia hondala (Gaertn) de wilde, Plumbago auriculata Theenb. and Vitex negundo Linn. were selected for successful clonal multiplication through stem cuttings. In the case of T. indica, R. graveolensis, A. hondala the highest rooting of 85-90% was resulted inside the polytunnel having 65-75% humidity and 28-35ºC temperature. Where as in the case of Plumbago auriculata and V. negundo 80-85% of rooting success could be achieved on the same polytonal conditions. The maximum establishment through stem cuttings recommended as a low cost and viable propagation method for multiplication, subsequent restoration on farm conservation and sustainable utilization of species

The paper throws light on the economically important Cyperaceous taxa found in Uttar Pradesh. The Sedge family Cyperaceae is represented in the state by 128 species, 1 sub-species and 7 varieties belonging to 17 genera out of which 31 species belonging to llgenera are used for various purposes in different localities of the state.

Grasses are one among the world's most wide spread plant groups, form the fourth largest Angiosperm family, Poaceae with about 10000 species under 660-700 genera. The importance of grasses lies not only in providing sustenance, but also serve humanity in several ways. A study was conducted on the graminaceous flora, as the part of Vegetation ecology of Tadoba National Park (presently constitute Tadoba-Andhari Tiger reserve), Chandrapur, Maharastra, the oldest national park in Maharashtra state, which represented by 103 species of grasses, belonging to 52 genera. The genus Eragrostis is the largest genus with 14 species followed by Digitaria and Aristida with 6 species each. Woody vegetation showed less diversity and density than the herbaceous component. Phytosociological analysis of grass dominated areas revealed that it is a savannah type of vegetation with characters like low species richness of woody elements including shrubs and high species richness of herbaceous elements with higher percentage of grasses. Dominant species were Heteropogon contortus, Chysopogon fulvus, Sporobolus tenassissima. The study revealed that various biotic and edaphic factors play an important role in determining the composition of grasses and modifying their sequence of appearance. Most of the grasslands were subjected to constant pressure of grazing and burning, and therefore did not reach the climax form in response to climate. However, in certain protected pockets, they developed into main type- Sehima-Dichanthium, while in the disturbed areas they were replaced by various subtypes like Sehima-Dichanthium, Chrysopogon-Bothriochloa and Aristida-Erag-rostis subtypes, depending on the degree of disturbance. Grasses have major ecological role in reclamation of an area, owing to their fast regenerating capacity, tolerance to drought and arid conditions

River Chittar is a perennial stream that runs along the eastern and southern boundaries of Tropical Botanic Garden & Research Institute situated at Palode, Thiruvananthapuram district. In the year 1997 an ecotaxonomic study was undertaken to analyse the flora in and around this river (approximate length of 25 km) which revealed that the plants recorded fell under 4 divisions, 50 families, 78 genera and 81 species.

The present report is an effort to analyse the above recorded plants in terms of their economic importance, especially with reference to the local communities; it has come to light that 35 plant species including trees, ferns and aquatic angiosperms constituting the river vegetation have innumerable uses which are enumerated  here.
