Mikania cordata (Burm.f.) Robins., (Asteraceae) occurring hitherto in Kerala state in Southern India has been collected from Coimbatore District of Tamilnadu, thereby extending its distribution as well as forming a new record for the state.

Survey and observation was carried out in remote villages in east coast districts of Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram in Tamilnadu, India. Information revealed that there are many plant species traditionally used by the villagers. From these 50 species belonging to 40 genera and 26 families of medicinally important plants were identified and their uses were described in this article. Among them, Azadirachta indica, Jatropha curcas, Vitex negundo, Tamarindus indica, Tridax procumbens, Moringa oleifera, Erythrina indica and Sesbania grandiflora are some of the most useful medicinal plants in their day to day life.

Aeschynanthus micrantha C.B. Clarke has been reported as a new record for flora of West Bengal from Gorumara National Park of Jalpaiguri district.

Taeniophyllum alwisii Lindl., a tiny, leafless, rare and little known epiphytic orchid so far known only from Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu is recorded from the Idukki district of Kerala State.

The present paper deals with an additional distributional record of Chenopodium schraderianum Roem. & Schult. from India, as well as a new record for Flora of India. A detailed  description, ecology, phenology (only flowering and fruiting time), taxonomy and phytogeography have been provided along with illustrations.

Ipomoea staphylina Roem.& Schult. (Convolvulaceae) is reported as an addition to the flora of Marathwada region of Maharashtra State, India.

Cyrtococcum deccanense Bor (Poaceae) collected from Chintapalli of Vishakapatnam district is a new distributional record for the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Six species of angiosperms, viz. Citrullus colocynthis (L.) Schrad. ex Eckl. & Zeyh., Curcuma caesia Roxb., Pedalium murex L., Rauvolfia tetraphylla L., Solanum myriacanthum Dunal and Zingiber zerumbet (L.) Sm., have been reported as new records for Central India.

This paper describes the plant and plant parts used by the Poliyars, one of. the oldest tribal communities of Anaimalai Hills, for the treatment of various ailments food cultural traditional and religious ceremonies. Further, the habitat of the plnts ad the ocupational aspects of the tribes are also discussed .

The genus Caldesia Parl. is represented by thre species in India - C. grandis Samuel., C.oligococca (F.v. Muell) Buch. and C. parnassi folia (Bassi ex L.) Parl. The specimen from Lower Bengal is  quite distinct from the above mentioned species, though  allied to C. grandis  Samuel. and C. parnassi folia  (Bassi ex L.) Parl.,and deserves a distinct specific recognition. A palynotaxonomical account is presented in the text.

Cissus xavierensis sp. nov. is described from Tamil Nadu allied to Cissus quadrangularis L. but differs from having flat stem and acute calyx lobes

The new species Globba rahmanii Yusuf (Zingiberaceae) sp. nov. from Bangladesh is described and illustrated. The species grows in shady moist hill slopes at high altitude, 1200 m, in Chittagong and Hill Tracts districts of Bangladesh. Diagnostic morphological characters from closely related taxa are discussed.

Melinis minutiflora P. Beauv., a tropical African grass of many uses, is reported for the first time from Peninsular India. The detailed description with illustration and necessary notes is provided here.

Syzygium alternifolium (Wight) Walp. is recorded for the first time in Southern Eastern Ghats of Tamil Nadu. Detailed description and illustrations are provided.

The present paper highlights the occurrence of Soliva anthemifolia (Juss.) R.Br. as a new generic record to the flora of Himachal Pradesh collected from Pong dam wetland area of district Kangra (H.P.). This species has been found hitherto unknown to the flora of Himachal Pradesh. Notes on its morphological characters, habit and habitat are given.

Blumea lanceolaria (Roxb.) Druce var. spectabilis (DC.) Randeria of family Asteraceae is reported as a new record from Darjeeling district of West Bengal.
