It is our profound pleasure and pride, as the time is now ripe, to bring out a revised and updated edition of the book, which has been greatly metamorphosed with addition of new chapter on Basic Concepts of Plant Science, by which the student can get a solid foundation for understanding. The broad plan essentially remains the same as the first edition. In order to cater to the long-felt need of the students, this has been made possible on our part due to numerous feedbacks and responses received from many readers via e-mails, phone calls and postal correspondences. The enthusiasms exhibited by such readers has prompted us to bring out this newer edition, which, we hope, will no doubt fill the gap that have possibly been created in the earlier one. We will also not spare all our readers without expressing our thanks to them, who have given their precious time by going through the book and giving valuable suggestions and we wish them to continue to do so for the betterment of the book. The cover design of the book has been purposefully changed to give it a new look distinguishable from the first edition
